FAQ & Aftercare

Common questions about your appointment – and everything you should know before and after your tattoo.

From what age can I get tattooed?

I generally tattoo from the age of 18. From 16, a tattoo is possible with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If you’re not 18 yet, please get in touch with me beforehand so we can clarify everything.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Good preparation helps your skin be in the best possible condition for tattooing on the day.

In the week before your appointment:

  • Regularly apply body lotion to the area to be tattooed and keep it well moisturised.
  • Avoid strong sun exposure and especially sunburn.
  • Don’t shave the area yourself. I’ll shave it fresh at the studio to avoid skin irritation or small cuts before the appointment.

On the day of your appointment:

  • come well rested and as fit as possible
  • eat and drink enough beforehand
  • don’t apply body lotion, cream or other skin products to the area to be tattooed
  • wear comfortable clothing that gives easy access to the body part

If there’s anything special to consider for your project, we’ll discuss it before your appointment.

Can I bring someone with me?

Yes, of course. Just let me know beforehand if you’d like to bring someone. Space in the studio is limited, so this way we can check in advance whether it works for the appointment.

How long will my session take?

That depends on the project. Design, level of detail, body part, size and scope all affect the time needed. Before your appointment you’ll get an estimate of which session should be planned for your project. → Process & Prices

How does the deposit work?

A deposit is required to confirm your appointment. It is generally 50 % of the estimated session price, at least CHF 50 and at most CHF 350. For larger or multi-day projects, the deposit is not based on the total price of the whole project. Depending on the project and scheduling, the deposit is credited against a corresponding session. → Process & Prices

Can I reschedule or cancel my appointment?

Yes. If you can’t make your appointment, please let me know at least 48 hours in advance. If you cancel in time, the deposit can usually be transferred to a new appointment. With short-notice cancellations the deposit may be forfeited. Illness, emergencies and special situations are assessed individually. If you don’t show up without letting me know, the deposit is forfeited.

When will I see my design?

The design phase starts once the deposit and the appointment confirmation are in place. When you receive the first draft depends, among other things, on when your tattoo appointment takes place. The first draft is mainly there to visualise the concept and to check together whether I’ve understood your idea and the desired direction correctly. As soon as the concept is set, the design is developed further and prepared for the actual tattoo.

Can the design be changed?

Of course. Feedback and small adjustments are part of the design process. The first draft in particular is there to align the direction together. However, if the originally discussed idea, design or scope of the project changes fundamentally, a new assessment of design, price or appointment may be necessary.

How does a touch-up work?

If a touch-up is needed in certain areas after the tattoo has fully healed, it is generally free of charge. Whether a free touch-up is needed is assessed individually based on the healed tattoo. Healing loss or changes caused, for example, by insufficient aftercare, early strain or other external influences are excluded from the free touch-up. If you’re unsure after healing, feel free to show me the healed tattoo.

What payment options are there?

Caring for your tattoo

Healing is part of the tattoo.

The right aftercare is crucial for clean healing and the best possible result. Wrong care can lead to loss of ink, weaker contrast, patchy shading, delayed healing, inflammation, scarring and a poorer end result. If you’re unsure during healing, it’s always better to get in touch once too often than once too little.

01 Second skin

Ideally, the second skin should stay on the tattoo for up to 5 days. If it comes off earlier by itself, that’s no problem. If it’s still on after 5 days, remove it carefully in the shower with lukewarm water. Please don’t use hot water.

02 Cleaning & care

If the second skin comes off after 2–5 days:

  • clean the tattoo with clean hands and water
  • don’t wash it directly with soap
  • gently pat it dry with kitchen paper
  • then apply a thin layer of suitable tattoo cream 2–3 times a day

If the second skin comes off before day 2:

  • until day 3 just keep the tattoo clean – water + clean hands
  • start with tattoo cream from day 3
  • apply a thin layer 2–3 times a day

Recommended creams: Bepanthen Tattoo · TattooMed After Tattoo · Pegasus Tattoo Creme

03 While it heals

Mild itching and flaking are normal. Keep the tattoo clean, don’t scratch, don’t pull off scabs or flakes, wear loose clothing if possible, and if you’re unsure or the healing seems unusual, rather get in touch once too often.

04 Sport, sun & water

  • Sun: no direct sun for at least 4 weeks.
  • Bathing / pool / sauna / thermal baths / sea / lake: avoid for approx. 3–4 weeks.
  • Showering: allowed, but not too hot or too long.
  • Sport & heavy sweating: small tattoos approx. 5–7 days; large tattoos approx. 7–14 days.
